Next-generation Dynamic Digital EPCs for Enhanced Quality and User Awareness
HYPERTECH Energy Labs have been awarded a new R&D contract from the European Commission (Project Acronym: D2EPC) aiming to set the grounds for the next generation of dynamic Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) for buildings. The proposed framework sets its foundations on the smart-readiness level of the buildings and the corresponding data collection infrastructure and management systems. It is fed by operational data and adopts the ‘digital twin’ concept to advance Building Information Modelling, calculate a novel set of energy, environmental, financial and human comfort/ wellbeing indicators, and through them the EPC classification of the building in question. To accomplish the above aims and objectives, the D2EPC framework will be demonstrated in 6 sites, while its 12 partners coming from 7 European countries will collaborate and provide their expertise and resources within the 36 months of the project’s lifetime
HYPERTECH Energy Labs are leading the activities in relation to the elicitation of indicators that impact the overall dynamic building performance from the user’s comfort and wellbeing point of view and for the deploying the entire IoT framework that is responsible for information collection from the building towards dynamic EPCs through a non-intrusive performance measurement and monitoring, leveraging on its existing HYP Gateway. Further to that, HYPERTECH Energy Labs undertake the activities for extending the D2EPC digital platform with the performance benchmarking tool and verification and credibility tool under one integrated toolkit.
